Charitable organizations help support thousands in the community every year by offering different forms of assistance to those in need. However, they can’t do it without assistance from individuals’ and businesses’ donations or volunteer hours.
BBB regularly gets requests for information from donors in regards to the allocation of their donations. To reassure donors and charities concerned about accountability issues, the Better Business Bureau Foundation Serving Northwest Florida is offering its Charity Giving Guide.

“As we approach the holiday season, donors are often overwhelmed with requests for assistance,” said Norman Wright, President/CEO of your BBB Serving Northwest Florida. “We hope that donors will use the Charity Giving Guide to make wise giving decisions and that charities will use the Standards for Charitable Accountability as a guide for ‘best practices’ in operating their organizations.”

BBB Wise Giving Alliance’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability, is based on input from nonprofit representatives, IRS officials, foundation executives, donors and other stakeholder groups, and provide an objective means to evaluate a charity’s governance and oversight, measurement of effectiveness, finances and fundraising and informational materials.
BBB would like to sincerely thank the many organizations that voluntarily provided the information published in the Charity Giving Guide. These organizations were evaluated in accordance with the Standards for Charity Accountability and the results of their evaluations are published as well.

BBB hopes that donors will take time to research charities before making a donation or volunteering their time and the Charity Giving Guide is one of the many resources available to help donors make wise giving decisions. This guide is just one more way the BBB seeks to fulfill its mission to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust. The Charity Giving Guide is available free-of-charge as a service to the community.
